On 14 October 2024 Ambassador P. M. Amza, the Head of the Sri Lankan Mission in the Russian Federation, delivered a lecture to international relations students of the Saint Petersburg State University.

At the invitation of the Rector of the University Ambassador Amza delivered a lecture titled Sri Lanka – Russia relations: time-tested and deep-rooted, in which he introduced students to the history of relations between the two countries, which date back to the XV century, the strong diplomatic links and their development, trade, tourist and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
The lecture was attended by the students of Saint Petersburg State University, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations I. N. Novikova, Deputy Dean for Youth Policy of the Faculty of International Relations N. L. Parfenenok, consultant to the Vice-Rector for International Affairs M. A. Slastunov.
After the lecture, a Q&A session was arranged as the students asked the Ambassador on the matters of international relations and foreign policy of Sri Lanka. This event will help to promote Sri Lanka among the new generation of international professionals further strengthening people-to-people links between Sri Lanka and Russia.
