At the invitation of the First Moscow State Medical University (Sechenov University) on 10 December 2024, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow participated in the First Meeting of Foreign Graduates of the University.
The event began with the performance of the anthem by students and welcoming words from the First Vice-Rector Andrey A. Svistunov and other honored guests. The Embassy of Sri Lanka was represented by Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister (Education and Trade), who addressed the gathering, welcoming the foreign graduates and expressing his gratitude to the Administration of the University for the long-term links with Sri Lanka and its continuous support to the Sri Lankan students.
The evening ended with a bright concert with the participation of the talented international students.
The First Moscow State Medical University is the oldest leading medical university in Russia, established in 1758, that has become a cradle of most medical schools and scientific societies of Russia. Currently it teaches about 50 Sri Lankan students.
