On 18 December 2024 Ambassador P. M. Amza, Head of the Sri Lankan Mission in Moscow, accompanied by Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister (Education and Trade) made a visit to the State University of Management.
The Embassy delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Vladimir Stroev, Rector, Ms. Maria Karelina, Vice-Rector, Mr. Alexey Chudnovsky, Director of the Institute of Personnel Management, Social and Business Communications and Mr. Vladimir Filatov, Director of the University Engineering Project Management Center.
The officials introduced H. E. the Ambassador to the University and told about its educational programmes and areas in which particular success is envisaged. Special attention was paid to educational and scientific cooperation in the spheres of agriculture and tourism. Both sides expressed their readiness to share knowledge and experience in these areas for the mutual benefit. It was agreed that the Embassy would facilitate establishment of strong links between the State University of Management and its Sri Lankan counterparts.
After the meeting, the delegation was invited for a tour around the campus in the course of which it examined the premises of the High School under the University as well as its Information Technology Center.
State University of Management, which celebrates its 105 anniversary this year, has more than 10 thousand students, who pursue education under 14 Bachelor's Programmes, 11 Master's Programmes and Postgraduate Programmes in 8 research fields. The University also provides education to around 700 foreign students and is interested in bringing Sri Lankan students as well in order to supply highly qualified managers to the Sri Lankan economy.
