In view of the International Women's Day 2025, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation hosted an engaging and interactive session celebrating the contribution by women in leadership roles for peace, stability and sustainable development of the society.
The event featured a few distinguished female leaders, including Ms. Lyudmila Martynowa, Corporate Leader, and ladies representing the Russian Association for International Cooperation (RAIC) namely Ms. Marina Korosteleva, Founder and Board Member of several Friendship Societies including Sri Lanka, Ms. Tatyana Mishukovskaya, former Diplomat and Ms. Elizaveta Stupanskaya, a young historian. RAIC is the oldest non-governmental organization in Russia dedicated to people's diplomacy and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Today, the Association unites over 100 public organizations, including the Friendship Society with Sri Lanka, all actively engaged in the field of people's diplomacy.
Fascinating life experiences of four speakers added depth to the event and inspired attendees to reflect on the transformation power of women's leadership.
With women comprising over half of the embassy staff, the open discussion served as a platform for all staff members to share their insights and experiences, making it a enriching atmosphere for everyone involved. Male colleagues also participated by recognizing and validating the role played by empowered women, making it an inclusive dialogue.
At the end of the event, everyone was served with Sri Lankan delicacies.
