
Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow jointly collaborated with leading tour operator in Russia "Fun and Sun" and Aitken Spence PLC to organize a tourism networking session to usher in the winter season and targeting summer 2026 to attract more visitors from Russia highlighting Sri Lanka's unique appeal as a luxury holiday destination. The networking event was hosted at the Official Residence with the participation of 40 travel agents.
Addressing the audience, the Ambassador emphasized that Sri Lanka stands apart as an all-round destination, one that offers a rare blend of pristine beaches, lush greenery including tea plantations, refined wellness retreats, world-class boutique hospitality, rich heritage sites, and vibrant wildlife experiences. She noted that Sri Lanka's strength lies in its ability to offer "niche excellence" in every category, whether it is luxury Ayurveda, eco-resorts, gourmet dining, adventure travel, or bespoke cultural experiences tailored for discerning visitors.
She further highlighted that Sri Lanka presents an ideal opportunity for Russian travellers to enjoy warm weather, premium service standards, and a variety of curated itineraries designed to meet the expectations of high-end tourists seeking comfort, exclusivity, and authenticity. She also noted that sustainable and responsible tourism is emerging as a new market segment of luxury tourism of Sri Lanka.
Aitken Spence Travels delivered an engaging presentation showcasing new luxury packages, boutique resort offerings, personalized travel services, and unique experiential journeys that have gained strong interest among international visitors. The presentation also outlined how Sri Lanka's hospitality sector continues to evolve, focusing on elevated service, sustainability, and immersive local experiences.
Following this, representatives from Fun & Sun gave an update on travel options for the winter period, highlighting an open and reliable flight schedule connecting major Russian cities to Sri Lanka.
Both Aeroflot and Red Wing have commenced flights to Sri Lanka from October 2025, operating from major cities such as Moscow, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Ufa, Novosibirsk and Samara.
The event concluded with a raffle offering three round-trip air tickets to Sri Lanka, renewing optimism for the season ahead. Partners expressed strong interest in promoting Sri Lanka as a top-tier destination for Russian holidaymakers seeking warmth, comfort, and memorable experiences during the winter months.
