The Sri Lanka Sumo Federation has taken part in the International Sumo tournament «Commonwealth Cup — 2025», from 4 to 8 Dec 2025 in Moscow, Russia. In total, about 200 of the world's strongest sumo wrestlers from 19 countries took part in these competitions. The Sri Lankan ladies team emerged as the 2nd runner-up of the tournament among all participating countries.

Apart from classical Sumo matches, beach sumo competitions were included in the program of this prestigious tournament for the first time. According to foreign sumo experts, the beach variety of the most ancient type of martial arts not only delighted them, but also made them think about how to quickly learn from this positive experience and start holding super-exciting beach sumo tournaments in their homeland.
