The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, in collaboration with leading Russian tour operator Russian Express, successfully hosted a high - level tourism networking event aimed at promoting Sri Lanka as a high - end travel destination centred on unique experiences, diversity, and authentic hospitality.

The event brought together over 45 prominent Russian travel agents, tourism stakeholders, and industry partners to strengthen tourism cooperation and showcase Sri Lanka's growing luxury and experiential travel offerings.

Welcoming the participants Trade Counsellor of the Embassy Sanjeewa Bandara spoke about Sri Lanka's tourism potential as a unique destination. Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera highlighted the evolving global concept of luxury tourism, noting that modern travellers increasingly seek meaningful experiences, emotional connections, authenticity, and personalized journeys rather than traditional notions of opulence alone. The Ambassador emphasized that Sri Lanka naturally and seamlessly caters to this emerging demand through its rich cultural heritage, biodiversity, wellness traditions, adventure opportunities, and warm hospitality.

A special presentation by Ms Victoria Kolikova the representative of Anatara, Avani and NH Hotel Groups showcased Sri Lanka's luxury accommodation offerings, highlighting world - class hospitality, sustainable tourism practices, and unique guest experiences that combine comfort with authentic Sri Lankan cultural elements.

The event also featured a dedicated Ceylon Tea promotion, conducted in partnership with Basilur Tea Exports (Pvt) Ltd, presenting teas from Sri Lanka's renowned seven tea-growing regions. Participants were introduced to the distinct flavours, aromas, and heritage of Ceylon Tea, reinforcing Sri Lanka's global reputation as a producer of premium quality tea.
Guests were further treated to an authentic Sri Lankan culinary experience, with a selection of traditional Sri Lankan dishes that highlighted the island's vibrant gastronomy and diverse culinary heritage.

The networking session provided valuable information to Russian travel industry representatives, reinforcing the strong and growing tourism partnership between the two countries. The event concluded with a raffle draw sponsored by Russian Express for a holiday stay in Sri Lanka.

The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Russian partners to promote Sri Lanka as a year-round premium travel destination offering unforgettable experiences to discerning travellers.
