Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation completed yet another successful event on 27th May 2016 by networking the Sri Lanka’s treasure, “Gem Industry” with the Russian Gem and Jewelry industry.
The event was organized and held at the residence of the Embassy of Sri Lanka with the able guidance of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Dr. Saman Weerasinghe and 1st Secretary (Trade) of the Embassy Miss Chandima Kiriwandala.
At the inauguration of the networking session, Ambassador Dr. Weerasinghe welcomed all the participants and thanked them for their keen interest in attending the networking session organized by the embassy. He further mentioned that that this is one of the first steps that the Embassy had ever made in the industry in promotion Gem and Jewelry sector and intends to continue this support in future for mutual benefit. The event was attended by Mr. Asanka Welagedera , Chairman, Sri Lanka National Gem and Jewelry Authority, Ms.Chitranjali Dissnakyake , Director Export Development Board form Sri Lanka. Over 60 Russian Gem and Jewellery Industry Representatives, Russian Chamber of Commerce officials met with the nine Sri Lanka’s top most Gem exporters.
Each participant of the delegation was given a time slot to introduce themselves, the company and their products at the networking session. This was the ideal platform for Sri Lankan exporters to introduce their products and make the participants aware the uniqueness of the Sri Lankan precious stones. Networking dinner made the participants to discuss their interests further, individually for future corporation.
Sri Lanka Embassy organized B2B meetings for the Sri Lanka delegation and 5 gem industry professionals from the Russian federation attended the B2B meeting with 9 private sector companies of Sri Lanka.
The delegation visited the JUNWEX gem and Jewelry exhibition held at the VDNH exhibition center in Moscow and Mr. Welagedara made a speech at the inauguration of the event.
