Under the guidance of H. E. the Ambassador Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized a dharma sermon on October 17, 2016 at the Embassy residence premises. The sermon was conducted by the Chief Incumbent Venerable Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangarakkhitha Thero and Pallekande Rathanasara Thero who were invited to Moscow specifically for this event.

The sermon was held for the Sri Lankan community in Moscow and students obtaining education in Moscow, Tver, Kazan, St Petersburg etc . It was indeed a rare opportunity to have such an occasion in Moscow.
The Embassy took this opportunity to award the cash gifts, certificates and participation certificates to the students who took part and won places at the Vesak Lantern Competition organized by the Embassy earlier in May in the framework of the Vesak celebrations.
During his discussion, Pallekande Rathansara Thero stated that this was the first time in the history that the Embassy organized such an evet for students and it shows the promising compliance of the Embassy for such religious and social activities.
The invitees had the opportunity to attend this invaluable sermon guided by the Chief Priest and have traditional dinner afterwards.
