On March 22, 2017 His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena accompanied by the First Lady of Sri Lanka Madame Jayanthi Sirisena was received with warm welcome at the Domodedovo International Airport.

 H. E. the President of Sri Lanka along with the delegation was greeted by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Hon. Igor Morgulov, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mr. Igor Filatov, Ambassador of Russia to Sri Lanka H. E. Alexander Karchava and Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe with members of the Sri Lankan Diplomatic Mission in Moscow.
Following the reception of the distinguished delegates by Russian and Sri Lankan diplomats, the Presidential delegation, including Honourable Ministers and the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were escorted by a motorcade of Kremlin to the Ararat Hyatt Hotel which was the residence for H. E. the President and the delegation during his stay in Moscow.
