The Russian Federation hosted the first Rifle World Championship in IPSC history.

Large number of professional competitors from all over the world represented competition. Invitations were extended to Sri Lanka as well and a two member delegation participated in this world competition which was held from 31 May 2017 to 13 June 2017.
Sri Lankan delegation consisted of Col PML Chandrasiri and Sgt MMN Koswatta of Sri Lanka Army.
