Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Minister of Sports of Sri Lanka, accompanied by the delegation, visited Russia to participate in the Sixth International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS VI) which was held in Kazan, Russian Federation from 13-15 July 2017.
During his visit Hon. Minister of Sports of Sri Lanka met with several officials in connection to the field of sport within the framework of the MINEPS VI.
Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara attended a side line discussion meeting with Nada Al-Nashif, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO. During the discussion Hon. Minister has briefed the Asst. Director-General on his plan for the coming year which will be focused to open up Sri Lanka Sport to the general public of the country, aiming to give the equal opportunity to all - "Sport for all". Ms. Nada Al-Nashif has expressed her willingness to visit Sri Lanka in the near future.
Hon. Minister also had discussions with Prof. Dr. Ju-Ho Chang, President and Mr. Wolfgang Baumann, Secretary General of Association for International Sports for All. Prof. Dr. Ju-Ho has informed Hon. Minister that Sri Lanka would be invited to participate at their annual congress scheduled to be held in Seoul, South Korea in November 2017.
Further, Hon. Minster delivered two speeches at the conference on Sport and Physical Education.
