September 11, 2017 marked the beginning of the International Food & Beverages Exhibition "WORLD FOOD" which will be held at the Expocentre, Moscow during the period of September 11-14, 2017.
H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russian Federation, led the opening ceremony which was attended by Mr. Isuru Samarasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council, Sri Lankan delegates – participants of the World Food Exhibition, and officials of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia.
Three Sri Lankan stands where companies demonstrate Ceylon tea, coconut products, Sri Lankan spices, fish and seafood were located at the exhibition. The World Food International Exhibition is a great platform for Sri Lankan enterprises - participants to explore the several sectors of the Russian market and to establish direct business contacts in order to develop export of Sri Lankan goods, and it is a promising opportunity for the Russian visitors to get acquainted with representatives of the Sri Lankan food and beverages industry with the aim of diversifying the range of products currently offered to Russian consumers.
Organization of Sri Lankan stands was arranged by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia with the support of the Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Sri Lanka.
The International Exhibition "WORLD FOOD" is a central event in the Russian food and beverages sector and considered to be an ideal place for international and local food and beverages producers to promote their products and services.
