On October 9, 2017 the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training of Sri Lanka Hon. Chandima Weerakkody arrived in Moscow, Russia on the invitation of the Director General of the Training and Research Center of Moscow Trade Union Federation Mr. Vladimir Bogdashin to participate in the International conference: "Social Responsibility and Working Environment – the main factors of Sustainable Development".

The participants of the conference included representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the Russian Federation and the Moscow city, the Moscow Trade Union Federation, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, social partnership and business as well as representatives of legislative bodies, business, trade unions and non-governmental organizations from other countries.
Hon. Minister Chandima Weerakkody delivered a welcoming address at the Opening Ceremony of the conference.
Dr. H.L. Obeysekara, Rector of INTEC Asia Campus gave a speech on the following topic: "Promote the Quality Standards of Working Environment through Skills Development, Main Part of the Social Responsibility of Industrial Partners in Developing Countries" during the event.
The international conference «Social Responsibility and Working Environment – the main factors of Sustainable Development» turned out to be an efficient platform for the exchange of experience and comparison of approaches to solving problems which the society faces at the regional, national and international levels.
