A Sri Lankan delegation headed by Hon. Niroshan Perera, State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, visited Russia to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Implementation of Youth Policies and the World Festival of Youth and Students on the invitation extended by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
In the framework of the Ministerial Meeting, held in Moscow from 11th to 14th October 2017, delegates have attended to the opening ceremony of the Meeting and panel discussions devoted to pressing issues faced by the youth such as education and science, ecology and medicine, international security. Hon. Minister has also delivered a speech addressing the audience on current education and science problems.
Rich and informative programme of the Ministerial meeting also included a visit to the Skolkovo Innovation Centre where Sri Lankan delegates were introduced to the latest researches conducted by students of Skoltech. The Skoltech (Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology) is a private graduate research university in Skolkovo, Russia, focused on innovative research in priority areas of applied technical science.
Upon conclusion of the Ministerial Meeting in Moscow the delegates joined their national teams participating in the World Festival of Youth and Students which started on 15th October and will last till 21st October 2017 in Sochi. Sri Lankan delegates attended the splendid opening ceremony of the Festival and took part in comprehensive programs in science, education, culture and sports.
