On October 1st, 2018, Sri Lankan Embassy officials met with His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, environmentalist, educator and the spiritual head of the Drukpa Lineage, one of the main Buddhist schools of the Himalayas founded by the great Indian saint Naropa.

His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa visited Russia at an invitation of the Buddhist Association of the Russian Federation and the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Moscow.
During the discussion, His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa mentioned that he had visited Sri Lanka in 2012 to participate in religious activities, and further expressed his sincere hope to visit our country again.
His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa further said that thorough knowledge of Buddhism would be of importance not only for religious diplomacy but also for politics, Government, society, economy etc.
In response, the Embassy officials expressed their willingness to endeavour to arrange a visit to Sri Lanka by His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa in coordination with relevant Sri Lankan authorities in the future.
His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa presented a book titled 'Happiness is a State of Mind' written by him, for H E the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, along with a statue of Lord Buddha.
