On January 25, 2019 Ambassador H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the reception dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of Republic Day in India, at the invitation of the Indian Ambassador H.E. D Bala Venkatesh Varma and his spouse Madame Vidya Datla Varma. The Constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950. The reception was attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and State Authorities, Ambassadors and Defence Attaches of foreign countries.

Zamir Kabulov, Director of the Second Department of Asia, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and President's Putin Special Representative for Afghanistan, addressed the audience. In his speech Director Kabulov underlined the importance of the longstanding bilateral relations between the countries.
