On February 15, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the reception held on the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, which marks the anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising in 1804 and the first Serbian Constitution in 1835, as well as 140 Anniversary of the establishment of the Serbian Embassy in Russia.

The guests were received by the Serbian Head of Mission H.E. Dr. Slavenco Terzic and Madame Zorica Brasnovic Terzic. The event took place at the Residence of the Ambassador.
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aleksandr Pankin addressed the audience and highlighted the longstanding strong ties between the countries, importance of mutual support and further development of cooperation in different spheres. Ambassadors and representatives of the Embassies, officials from Russian State Authorities and organizations, party leaders, actors and religious personages were present at the celebration.
