On February 27, 2019 the Sri Lankan business and professional community in Moscow held a dinner for H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, Madame Sanja Jayatilleka, as well as other staff members at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia.
The community was represented by businessmen and professionals, among whom were Mr. Saman Jayamaha, Dr. Janaka Hamangoda, Mr. Hiran Karunaratne, Mr. Murad Careem, Mr. Nishantha Perera, Mr. Ganan Ganasenthan, Dr. Priyantha Bogamuwa, Dr. Tissa Kulatunga, Dr. Ranjan Fernando, Dr. Sampath Nagasinghe, Mr. Ajith Malwatte, Mr. Sanath Abeysekara, Mr. Upul Kariyawasam, and Mr. Primal Fernando.

The dinner had a rather unique nature not only because the Embassy officials could have direct and personal interactions with members of the Sri Lankan community, but also because both current and former Heads of the Sri Lankan Diplomatic Mission in Moscow – H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe – attended the event, which presented the attendees with a chance to reminisce about past achievements of the cooperation between the Embassy and the Sri Lankan community and to discuss possible ways to boost the development of Sri Lanka – Russia relations in various directions, particularly in trade and tourism, with the support of the Sri Lankan business and professional community in Moscow.
While the event was held in a very warm and friendly atmosphere, all guests agreed on the fact that such a convivial gathering could be arranged on a more regular basis, as it contributes to fostering of close communication between the Embassy and the Sri Lankan community.
