On March 25, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the reception held on the occasion of the Pakistan Day.
The National Day reception was attended by representatives of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Russian State Authority, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Defence Attaches.

The audience was addressed by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Qazi Mohammad Khalilullah who mentioned the unprecedentedly high level of foreign direct investment in Pakistan by the Russian Federation and said this reflected the relationship between the countries. He also pointed out the role of Russia in the establishment of regional stability. Speaking of the development of the China-Pakistan economic corridor, Ambassador Khalilullah also emphasized the huge new steps in the development of cooperation after the assumption of office by Prime Minister Imran Khan, with Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates in the investment and financial spheres, amounting to 25 billion US dollars.
H.E. Zamir Kabulov, Director of the Second Department of Asia, Russian MFA and Special Envoy of the Russian President to Afghanistan was Chief Guest at the reception. H.E. Zamir Kabulov spoke about the strength in the relations between the countries and in the issues of peace settlement in Afghanistan.
