On 18 April 2019, Sri Lankan students were awarded for the best dancing performance at the annual Youth Festival "My Country," organized by the Moscow Automobile & Road Construction State University (MADI), Moscow. One of the most fascinating parts of the event was the traditional dancing number of the Sri Lankan students who study at MADI, which won the award for the best dancing performance. During the concert, Sri Lankan students also entertained the audience by singing a Sinhala song.
Hundreds of students, from more than eleven countries, who are studying at MADI University, participated at this colourful and memorable event, brightening up the social life of the MADI student community. The programme included presentations of various countries, exhibitions of national products and folk crafts that constitute the cultural values and display the scenic beauty of the countries participating in the festival, national clothes demonstrations, artistic performances of the student teams, and demonstration of various peoples' national cuisines.
The annual Youth Festival "My Country" was attended by the acting Rector of the MADI University, Mr. G.V Kustarev. Officials of the Embassy of Sri Lanka, along with other Moscow based diplomatic officers also participated at the event. Before the cultural event, a meeting was held in the University premises between the MADI administration, the diplomatic officers from Sri Lankan Embassy, and Moscow based diplomatic officers of other countries.
