The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation is deeply saddened with the news of multiple bombings in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday and strongly condemns these horrifying attacks.
Our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed in the explosions and wishes of speedy recoveries to the many others who were injured.
On April 21, 2019 eight bomb explosions claimed lives of more than 150 people, having occurred in churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.
Curfew has been declared island wide from 6pm to 6 am tomorrow, April 22 (Please note that the news reports have subsequently announced curfew is imposed until further notice). The social media has also been blocked while investigations are underway for prevention of further fake news circulation. Furthermore, please note that all public and private schools will be closed on April 22 and April 23.
