On July 01, 2019 H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka received representatives of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry including Mr. Sergey Vasiliev, Deputy Chairman of Committee for Economic Cooperation with Countries of Asia and Oceania & Business Council for Cooperation with Pakistan, Mr. Vasiliy Vasiliev, Executive Secretary of Committee for Economic Cooperation with Countries of Asia and Oceania of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Ms. Olga Khlybova, General Director of EXPOTECHTOUR, and Mr. Sergey Gavrikov, Representative of Imperial Teas (Pvt) Ltd, to discuss the activities that Committee has planned to enhance the bilateral trade relations between Russia and Sri Lanka.
Mr. Sergey Vasiliev, a veteran official with 30 years 'experience at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who later joined the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, has emphasized that the Committee for Economic Cooperation with Countries of Asia and Oceania has focused on enhancing the bilateral trade relations with few Asian countries including Sri Lanka. Therefore, as the first phase, the Committee is planning to send a business delegation from Russia to Sri Lanka to participate at the Sri Lanka Investment and Business Conclave 2019 which will be held in Colombo in September. Further, the Committee have prepared one year plan to be implemented on enhancing the bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
Ms. Olga Khlybova explained about the assistance that "EXPOTECHTOUR" company provided to the Russian business community. She mentioned that they had more than 25 years' experience in organizing exhibitions, seminars, congresses and business meeting. Further, she spoke about her participation at the international events organized in Sri Lanka and the opportunities that the Russian companies would find in the sphere of trade and investment.
H.E. the Ambassador, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka emphasized the importance of participation of the Russian business community in the Sri Lanka Investment and Business Conclave 2019 in September, which would give an example for other countries, after the Easter Sunday attack in Sri Lanka. Ambassador also expressed the support of the Embassy of Sri Lanka on the approaches that the Committee would take to enhance the bilateral trade interaction between Russian and Sri Lanka.
