On July 9, 2019 Ambassador H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the reception dedicated to the 203rd Anniversary of Independence Day in Argentina, at the invitation of the Argentinian Ambassador H.E. Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio and his spouse Mrs. Alejandra Maria Rodriguez Galan.

Aleksander Shchetinin, Director of the Department of Latin America, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the audience. In his speech Director Schetinin underlined the importance of the longstanding bilateral relations between the countries.
The event was attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Russian State Authorities, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Defence Attaches of foreign countries.
The reception took place at the dacha of the Embassy which is located in Sosnoviy Bor (pinewood). This dacha was presented to the Embassy of Argentina by Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union who led the country from 1922 to 1953.
