On September 16, 2019 Ambassador H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the reception dedicated to the 62nd Anniversary of the National Day of Malaysia, at the invitation of the Malaysian Ambassador H.E. Datuk Mat Dris Haji Yaacob and his spouse Datin Nor Azirah Noor Hashim.

Ambassador Datuk Mat Dris Haji Yaacob addressed the audience and spoke about the recent visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad to the city of Vladivostok and his meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum with reference to the efforts to be undertaken for further development of bilateral relations between the countries including in the Far Eastern Region.
The reception was attended by officials from the Russian MFA and State authorities, Heads of Foreign Missions and Defence Attaches accredited to Russia. The invitees were served with authentic and homemade Malaysia food.
