The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation facilitates the distribution of food packs and hygiene items among Sri Lankan students which was jointly organized by Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Secretary General of the Sri Lanka-Russia Friendship Society and Former Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, who became the initiator of this process, the Sri Lanka-Russia Friendship Association, Russian Centre in Colombo, the Cultural Division of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka.

 As a first step they delivered the essentials at the following universities;

- Peoples's Friendship University of Russia (RUDN)
- Russian National Research Medical University (Moscow State 2nd Medical University)

And on the 26th the goods were delivered to the students of the following universities;
- Moscow Aviation University (MAI)
- Moscow Automobile & Road State Technical University (MADI)
- Russian State Agrarian University (Moscow Timiryazev Agriculture Academy)
- Moscow State Institute of Cultural Art
- Moscow State Pedagogical University
- Moscow State University of Civil Engineering
- Moscow Academy of Labour & Social Relations.

A large number of hygiene items and other essentials have been prepared to be distributed among students in other universities also. Sooner, they will distribute among every Sri Lankan student who didn't recieve them yet.

This initiative will be continued to ensure that many more Sri Lankan students are provided with necessary items and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia will be further assisting in coordination of the process, while providing additional support to students and other Sri Lankan nationals who are currently in the Russian Federation as well as other countries of accreditation, namely, Belarus, Armenia, Moldova, and Uzbekistan.
