Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Professor M.D. Lamawansa started visiting his counterparts from South Asian countries in line with the practice of meeting the diplomatic corp.

The first courtesy call Ambassador-Designate Lamawansa paid is, on June 15, 2020 to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India H.E. D Bala Venkatesh Varma, a veteran diplomat, who previously served as Permanent Representative of India to the Conference on Disarmament, in addition to several other high postings.
During the meeting the Ambassadors noted a desire shown by the Leaders of India and Sri Lanka to work closely for mutual benefits of both countries. The Heads of Missions have also exchanged views on other topics of common interest.
