Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Russia Prof. M.D. Lamawansa paid a courtesy call on Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Russian Federation H.E. Kamrul Ahsan on June 22, 2020.

The two Heads of Missions spoke substantively on South Asian affairs and issues of common interest.
On June 23, 2020 Ambassador-Designate H.E. Lamawansa visited his counterpart from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. M. Latif Bahand. The Heads of Missions underlined very close historically established relations between the countries and similarities in culture of Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
During the meeting both Ambassadors discussed matters related to Buddhism and the opportunities for further interaction in order to strengthen cultural bonds with Russia and other countries.
