On July 9, 2020 Ms. Chathurika Perera, Second Secretary (Commercial) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia participated in the round table “New formats of vacations abroad in the post-pandemic period” organized by the Association of Russian Tour Operators (ATOR).
The discussions were moderated by ATOR Executive Director Ms. Maya Lomidze, a prominent figure in the Russian tourism industry, and gathered more than 260 Russian tour operators and other representatives of the Russian tourism industry.
As one of the speakers at the event, Ms. Chathurika Perera delivered a presentation on the measures implemented by the Sri Lankan Government to control the spread of the coronavirus, current situation in the country, as well as new comprehensive health and safety guidelines and entry health protocols introduced by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority to ensure a “Safe and Secure” traveler experience.
At the same time, Ms. Chathurika Perera noted that there has been growth in the number of tourists arriving from Russia to Sri Lanka (+34% in 2019 when compared to 2018) and expressed hope that the same trend will resume, once the international tourism is fully reactivated.
