On September 10, 2020, the Sri Lankan Embassy held a reception hosted by the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Prof. M.D. Lamawansa in a soothing and joyful atmosphere, at the ambassador's residence. The event drew many prominent Russian media representatives including TASS, MIA Rossiya Segodnya, Interfax, Kommersant, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Izvestia, Russia Today, Russia 24, TV Centre, Sputnik, Argumenti i Facty, Ruptly Video Agency, and RIA Novosty providing an opportunity to take a closer look at Sri Lanka's potential in the spheres of trade, tourism, culture, education, investment and military cooperation.
In the welcoming speech the Ambassador briefed the growing ties in bilateral relations in varied sectors and expressed his expectation for sustainable development in future cooperation between the two countries in the areas of trade, tourism, education, politics, culture, environmental studies, medicine and military-technical cooperation etc. The ambassador also spoke about the Sri Lankan traditional culture and cuisine, and ways the embassy is planning to collaborate with host country in this regard.
The presentation was followed by a press-conference. Ambassador Prof. M.D. Lamawansa expressed gratitude to the Media representatives for their participation and the interest shown by them on Sri Lanka and the Mission in Moscow. All participants were served with the Sri Lankan traditional food and Ceylon Cinnamon.
Several media agencies showed an interest to visit Sri Lanka, and more elaborate interviews with the Ambassador.
