Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, the newly appointed Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, presented his Credentials to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, in the Alxandrovsky Hall of the Great Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Thursday, 26th November 2015. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov was also present at the Ceremony.

Ambassador H.E. Dr. Saman Weerasinge met on 10 November 2015 Prof. Efim Pivovar, Rector of the Russian State University for the Humanities.
The Russian State University for the Humanities was established in 1991 in accordance with a Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic as the successor to Moscow State History and Archives Institute.
Ambassador meets the Acting Rector of Moscow Aviation Institute
H.E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka met Prof. Aleksander V. Rozhdestvenskiy, Acting Rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), on 10th November 2015. Moscow Aviation Institute was founded in 1930 to train qualified personnel for the aviation industry. Since its founding, MAI has trained more than 160,000 professionals including several Sri Lankans in aviation, space science, and industry.
Deputy Minister Harsha de Silva says Sri Lanka’s anti-corruption efforts are not rhetorical
Addressing the high level segment of the Conference of State Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption in the Russian City of St. Petersburgh on 3 November 2015, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Harsha de Silva stated that the Government of Sri Lanka, under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, has taken a host of measures to prevent corruption, to seek out stolen assets and to build the capacity for effectively curbing corruption and bribery, in an effective, comprehensive, result-oriented manner.
