At the invitation of Prof. Igor Stoma, Rector of the Gomel State Medical University, Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus, visited the Gomel State Medical University and held a meeting with the Administration of the University, including Vice Rectors, Deans and others.

At the invitation of Prof. Elena Krotkova, Rector of the Grodno State Medical University (GSMU), Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus, visited on December 08-09, 2021 the GSMU and participated in a number of events organized by the University.

In the course of her stay in the city of Grodno, Republic of Belarus, Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus, held a meeting with representatives of the business society in Grodno in order to familiarize them with business and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.

Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, held a meeting on 13 December 2021 with Mr. Yevgeny Primakov, Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) and discussed avenues for advancing cooperation between Sri Lanka-Russia in scholarships, university and school collaborations, teacher training, youth development programmes, etc.
