On February 12, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka paid a visit to the Carnegie Centre, Moscow branch of Global Carnegie with its Mission to advance peace through analysis and development of fresh policy ideas and direct engagement and collaboration with decision makers in government, business, and civil society.

Ambassador Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka were received by the Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center Dmitri Trenin, who has been with the Centre since its inception. Trenin holds PhD in History form the Institute of the USA and Canada, held a post as a senior research fellow at the Institute of Europe in Moscow and at the NATO Defence College in Rome. Having served for the Soviet and Russian armed forces, Trenin had worked as a liaison officer in the external relations branch of the Group of Soviet Forces and was a staff member of the delegation to the U.S.-Soviet nuclear arms talks in Geneva from 1985 to 1991.
Opening the meeting Director Trenin spoke about the main focus of the Carnegie Moscow Center on the issues pertaining to domestic politics, societal trends, economics, foreign policy, and nuclear nonproliferation.
Ambassador Jayatilleka and Prof. Trenin had a substantive discussion on the issues related to peace in the global situation, global policy and Grand Strategy, Greater Eurasia and history of relations between USA, Russia and China.
