August 18, 2016 State Secretary of Sri Lanka Ministry of Industry and Trade Mr. TM KB Tennekoon started his working visit to the Republic of Belarus. The first day was held bilateral meetings with the Secretary of State-Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Leonid Hare and the Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus Mr Alexander Ogorodnikov.

These meetings with the Belarusian colleagues presented an important opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest in the agricultural and industrial areas on the eve of the meeting of the Sri Lankan-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which is held in Minsk for the next day, August 19, co-chaired by State-Secretary Tennekoona and Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Belarus, Mr. Valentin Rybakov.
