At the invitation of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Faction in the Moscow State Duma, on 30 January 2025 a group of Sri Lankan students of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia made a visit to the Moscow State Duma.

Commencement of work in 2025
The staff of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation commenced work for the Year 2025 at a simple ceremony held at the Embassy premises on 09 January 2025. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the Chargé d'Affaires a. i. and singing of the national anthem by the Embassy staff. In line with the national program 'Clean Sri Lanka' launched by the President of Sri Lanka, the staff of the Embassy took the public servants oath to uphold the principles of the Clean Sri Lanka program. Addressing the staff, the Chargé d'Affaires a. i., while extending New Year greetings to the staff, highlighted the importance of continuing to work as a team in providing an efficient and effective service delivery to the public and strengthening Sri Lanka-Russian relations.
