On June 25-30, 2019, Russia is hosting the largest exhibition of military and dual-purpose equipment in the modern "Patriot" Park near Moscow. A meeting with General Gerasimov, Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, was also arranged for the Sri Lankan delegation during their visit to Moscow.

Ambassador Jayatilleka was a speaker at the Roundtable discussion on "Enhancing international cooperation to combat spread of terrorist ideology and counter self-radicalization of lone terrorists" moderated by Deputy Secretary of Security Council of the Russian Federation Yury Kokov, at the 10th International meeting of the high-ranking officials responsible for security matters at Ufa organized by the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

On June 17-20, 2019 Sri Lankan delegation headed by Ambassador Dayan Jayatilleka and including Additional Secretary of Defence of Sri Lanka Mr. Anuradha Wijekoon took part in the X International Meeting of High-Level Officials Responsible for Security Matters held in Ufa at the initiative of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

On June 15, 2019 President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 5th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which was held on June 14-15 in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan.

On 3rd June, 2019 Ambassador Jayatilleka paid his second visit to the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Being established in 1956 the institute has become the oldest and the biggest think tank in Eastern Europe including Russia.
Ambassador Jayatilleka met and had a discussion with Academician Alexander Dynkin, the President of IMEMO and one of the leading Russian specialists in the world economy and international politics, who now chairs the Russian Pugwash Committee at the Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium and the Scientific Council of the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs.

On May 24-29, 2019 Saint Petersburg hosted the International Police Association gathering and brought together delegates from different countries. The IPA is the largest organization for police officers in the world, founded by British sergeant Arthur Troop in 1950, in order to create a platform for friendship and international cooperation amongst police officers. The association has now 72 national sections and over 360,000 members and associate members.
