On October 16, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka attended the lecture on Indo-Pacific concept within the framework of the course of public lectures "ASEAN Academic Days" at the invitation of Moscow State University of International Affairs (MGIMO). MGIMO is renowned as the most prestigious university in Russia for international political, legal and economic studies, with its history starting from 1944. This year MGIMO celebrates its 75-th anniversary.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka accompanied by Madame Sanja Jayatilleka paid a visit to the main monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. The Lavra was founded in 1337 by one of the most venerated Russian saints, Sergius of Radonezh, and is now recognized as the spiritual heart of Russia.
The visit took place on October 14, 2019. On the same day orthodox Christians celebrated one of the most revered feasts, the Veil of the Holy Virgin Mary. The guests were received by His Reverence, hieromonk Agafon, the Dean of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, and the hierodeacon Ioann, Deputy Head of the Pilgrimage Center.

On October 15, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka accompanied by Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the joint discussion on the pressing topic of multilateral security models in the new power struggle. The meeting was co-organized by the Trialogue Club International and the Embassy of Switzerland to Russia and was held in the Residence of the Ambassador of Switzerland in Moscow.

Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development of Sri Lanka, Hon. P. Harrison, paid an official visit to the Russian Federation from 10 to 13 October 2019 in order to participate at the "Golden Autumn – 2019", the Agricultural Exhibition which is one of the most important agricultural forums of the country and which attracts more than 300 000 visitors interested in the sphere of agricultural machineries, plant cultivation, seed production, animal breeding, etc.

On October 9, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, accompanied by Madame Sanja Jayatilleka, attended the All-Russian Youth Forum "Future", organized at the initiative of Mr. Sergey B. Ivanov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on the Issues of Environmental Activities, Environment and Transport, who previously served as the Russian Minister of Defence, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration.
H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka delivered a speech at one of the Forum's sections, entitled "Role of youth in politics and Russia's international affairs" and moderated by International Human Rights Committee Vice President Alexander Ionov. Ambassador Jayatilleka shared his own experience as a young activist and urged the attendees to engage in international affairs through learning, conversation, and communication in order to defend their national interest. H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka also stressed the concept of internationalism and pointed out the importance of internationalist solidarity in the struggle for a fair and just world order.

On September 30, 2019 Ambassador Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the reception dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China and the 70th anniversary of establishment of the Russian-Chinese diplomatic relations. The Reception was hosted by the newly appointed Ambassador of China to the Russian Federation H.E. Chzhan Hanhuei and gathered representatives of the Russian State Duma and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, political figures and military officials, Russian State authorities and Heads of Foreign Missions to Russia. Deputy Foreign Minister Hon. Igor V. Morgulov, and the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Gennady Zyuganov were present at the event.
