Ambassador Jayatilleka meets Ambassador of Palestine
On February 6, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka visited Ambassador of the State of Palestine, H.E. Abdel Hafiz Nofal, who previously served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestine to the Republic of South Africa and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of National Economy before he assumed his duties as the Head of Mission in Moscow.

The Russia – Sri Lanka Friendship Society organizes event for 71st Independence Day of Sri Lanka
On February 5, 2019 the Russia-Sri Lanka Friendship Society (RSLFS) organized a reception, held at the Federation Council of Russia, on the occasion of the 71st Independence Day of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to Russia, Madame Sanja Jayatilleka, as well as several members of the Sri Lankan Diplomatic Mission attended the event.

The 71st Independence Day of Sri Lanka is celebrated in a multi-faith ceremony at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia
On February 4, 2019 the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation organized a ceremony in commemoration of the 71st Independence Day of Sri Lanka.
The official ceremony began with hoisting of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem in Sinhala and Tamil. Multi-faith religious observances were conducted by the religious clergy, representing Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity.
