On April 16, after a three-day national holiday, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation resumed its work by holding a ceremony in commemoration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year that was observed by Sri Lankan people all over the world on April 14.

On April 11, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka paid a visit to Ambassador of the Republic of the Union Myanmar to the Russian Federation H.E. Ko Ko Shein. Prior to assuming the post of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Moscow, H.E. Ko Ko Shein served as Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Representative of Myanmar Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, twice in the Myanmar Mission to the United Nations in New York, and as Deputy Head of Mission/First Secretary in Cambodia.

On April 9, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation H.E. Woo Yoon Keun, a veteran politician with a doctoral degree in Law who served as Secretary-General of the National Assembly and held other major posts in the National Assembly during his three consecutive terms as a lawmaker. As a representative of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy (NPAD) Ambassador Woo Yoon Keun was a prominent policymaker of the NPAD.

On April 2-4, 2019, Ambassador Jayatilleka made his second round of calls on the Directors of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Departments in charge of geographic areas belonging to the Global South, primarily in the Indo-Pacific Asia and Latin America.
The purpose of these meetings was to discuss the most recent global and regional processes in the Indo-Pacific, Asia and generally, in the South, and the perspectives of Russia's policy towards these regions.
On April 2nd, the Ambassador met with H. E. Alexey M. Ovchinnikov, Director of Asia and Pacific Cooperation Department, overseeing regional framework organizations such as Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, APEC, and Russia-ASEAN dialogue. Director Ovchinnikov's expertise spreads to other international formats such as G20, former G8 and BRICS, from his recent role as the Deputy Director of the MFA Foreign Policy Planning Department coordinating Russia's interaction with its partners within these organizations, including for their Summit meetings.

On April 3, 2019 Ambassador Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka visited Federation Council, the Upper Chamber of the Parliament of the Russian Federation. The guests were received by Senator Andrey Klimov, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee for Foreign Affairs, and Chair of United Russia party's International Relations Commission.

On 3rd April 2019, Ambassador Jayatilleka paid his second visit to the Federation Council, Upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament, to meet with Senator Dr. Andrey A. Klimov, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee for Foreign Affairs, and Chair of United Russia party's International Relations Commission which is part of the United Russia General Council Presidium, the party's supreme governing body. Senator Klimov has been the Chair of the Federation Council Commission on State Sovereignty since its foundation in 2017, when Russia established this key legislative instrument for the first time in its modern history.
