At the request of the University of Kelaniya, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized on 24 June 2022 an introductory online meeting between the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) and the University of Kelaniya.

Senior Professor Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director, Centre for International Affairs, represented University of Kelaniya, while Ms. Marina Batalina, Head, International Cooperation Office, represented HSE and Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister Counsellor, represented the Embassy. The other heads of departments and other staff members of the institutions also joined the meeting.
The sides discussed cooperation in the spheres of library and information science and international studies, embodied in joint research, students and staff exchange, holding online and offline lectures, conferences, experience exchange, etc.
Both parties showed enthusiasm to sign the Memorandum of Understanding and make practical steps for beginning of collaboration at the earliest.
