In the framework of preparation for a familiarization tour of heads of Moscow clinics to Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka conducted a lecture to 25 leading administrators of the Moscow Healthcare System on 01 February 2024.

The visit is organized jointly by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia, Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka and the Moscow Metropolitan Governance Yury Luzhkov University. It will become a second visit of such team to Sri Lanka further strengthening the links between the two countries in the field of healthcare and education.
The lecture was conducted by Dr. Sunil De Alwis, Additional Secretary (Medical Services) of the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka, organized and joined by his team. The lecture was dedicated to the Healthcare System of Sri Lanka: its evolution, structure, current performance and challenges. The audience was able to get the understanding of the work of the Ministry and local healthcare bodies, learn about the most spread diseases, experience of Sri Lanka in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, financing of the healthcare, etc.
Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, highly appreciated the support of Dr. Sunil De Alwis for the initiatives of the Embassy and commended the dedication of both sides to develop cooperation.
Mr. Vasily Yurievich Fiveysky, Rector of the Moscow Metropolitan Governance University, noted that all participants of the previous familiarization tour, which took place in 2022, made very positive remarks on the visit and underlined that the University is determined to continue cooperation.
