In the framework of a series of lectures in the higher education establishments of Russia, 17 October 2024 Ambassador P. M. Amza delivered a lecture about Sri Lanka – Russia links to the students of the International Relations programme in the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
The Embassy delegation was warmly greeted by the University staff: Mr. Vladimir Morozov, Vice Rector for HR Policy, Mr. Nikita Neklyudov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations for Master's Degree Programmes and Ms. Glafira Ereemeeva, Assistant to the Vice-Rector for HR Policy. In the course of a meeting the sides were able to discuss the routes for cooperation between Sri Lankan institutions and MGIMO.
Ambassador Amza told the students about the development of Sri Lanka – Russia diplomatic links underlining that since the day of their establishment in 1957 they were based on mutual respect, non-interference, respect for sovereignty and cooperation in the international arena. In his speech, Ambassador Amza especially underlined that the multifaceted partnership encompasses political sphere, trade, tourism, defence, culture, education and people-to-people exchanges.
After the lecture the students used the opportunity to make some questions to Ambassador Amza on Sri Lankan prospective entry to BRICS, regional and religious cooperation between the countries, etc.
