The Tea Promotion Unit (Sri Lanka Tea Board) attached to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized a Ceylon Tea pavilion at World Food Ukraine and World Food Kazakhstan 2016

On October 19, 2016 H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, called on H. E. Marat Tazhin, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation.

Under the guidance of H. E. the Ambassador Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized a dharma sermon on October 17, 2016 at the Embassy residence premises. The sermon was conducted by the Chief Incumbent Venerable Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangarakkhitha Thero and Pallekande Rathanasara Thero who were invited to Moscow specifically for this event.

On October 5, 2016 H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Moldova, met with H. E. Dumitru Braghis, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation

On the 30th of September, 2016 H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, hosted a reception for Sri Lankan citizens living in Moscow as well as Sri Lankan students obtaining education in Moscow.
