Online meeting between the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia and the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry on trade and economic cooperation
On July 31, 2020, at the initiative of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia, an online meeting was organized between the Embassy and the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) for the discussion of potential ways to boost the trade and economic cooperation of the Ural region and Sri Lanka.

On 26 July 2020 Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Russia Prof. M.D. Lamawansa accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Anas, Deputy Head of Mission commenced his 3-day official visit to St. Petersburg.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation visits Kuntskamer
His Excellency Professor Meegahalande .D. Lamawansa was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of his country to the Russian Federation in January this year. Due to the situation with the spread of the coronavirus, all activities related to the appointment had to be postponed. Only now, His Excellency Professor M.D. Lamawansa was able to come to St. Petersburg on the official visit. This was his first visit to the Northern capital of Russia. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sri Lanka met with representatives of the city administration, inagurated a branch of the Russian Friendship Society with Sri Lanka in St. Petersburg, and participated in other diplomatic events.
