On March 24, 2017 in the framework of the official visit to Russia H. E. Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka, visited the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow.

On March 24, 2017 within the framework of the official visit of the President of Sri Lanka H. E. Maithripala Sirisena to Russia, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation jointly organized the Sri Lanka – Russia Business Forum which was held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On March 24, 2017 Hon. Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Science, Technology, and Research of Sri Lanka and Hon. Olga Vasilyeva, Minister of Education and Science of Russia signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation

On March 24, 2017 in the framework of the official visit of the President of Sri Lanka H. E. Maithripala Sirisena to Russia H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, signed the Federal Agreement between the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of fisheries.

The last day of the official visit of H. E. the President of Sri Lanka to Russia started with the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Hon. Dmitry Medvedev.

On March 23, 2017 the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized a gala dinner reception at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Moscow in honour of the visit of the President of Sri Lanka H. E. Maithripala Sirisena to the Russian Federation at the invitation of the President of Russia H. E. Vladimir Putin and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Russia.
