Presenting credentials to the President of Armenia
On June 24, 2022 the newly appointed Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Armenia Prof. Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage presented her credentials to the President of Republic of Armenia H.E. Vahagn Khachaturian. President Khachaturian congratulated the Ambassador on taking office and wished her fruitful work for the further development of bilateral relations.
Sri Lankan Universities discuss cooperation with Chuvash State University, Russia
On 28 June 2022, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized an online meeting between the I. U. Ulianov Chuvash State University, University of Ruhuna, South Eastern University and University of Moratuwa. It took place as a result of a visit of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, to the Republic of Chuvashia.
Discussions on cooperation between the Higher School of Economics and the University of Kelaniya
At the request of the University of Kelaniya, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized on 24 June 2022 an introductory online meeting between the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) and the University of Kelaniya.
Ambassador Liyanage participates in Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum
Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage took part in the 25th anniversary St. Petersburgh International Economic Forum SPIEF-2022.
In the framework of SPIEF, Ambassador Prof. Liyanage attended the Plenary Session headed by H.E. President Putin. Preceeding the main event, the picture of former President and PM Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa was displayed on the head screen during the photo report of Russia's friendly relationships with foreign countries.
Three Sri Lankan Universities sign Memorandums of Understanding with Moscow State University of Sports and Tourism
Moscow State University of Sports and Tourism signed Agreements about Cooperation in the Field of Sports Science and Memorandum of Understanding with three Sri Lankan Universities: University of Kelaniya, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.
Sri Lanka and Belarus continue strengthening educational ties
On 10 June 2022, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus, conducted an introductory meeting between the University of Vavuniya and the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Belarus.
