Ambassador Jayatilleka attends Diplomats’ Artworks exhibition at the Russian Academy of Arts

On November 11, 2019 Ambassador Jayatilleka accompanied by Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended the second Diplomats' artworks exhibition at the invitation of the Russian Academy of Arts, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Russian Federation H.E. Haini Hashim and Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay H.E. Ramon Diaz Pereira. The Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts "Zurab Tsereteli's Art Gallery" hosted a one-day exhibition with about 100 works of paintings and graphics. This year the exhibition has also expanded its exposition with photographs.
National Unity Day celebrated in Russia / С Днем народного единства!

The Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Russia congratulates all Russian citizens on the occasion of National Unity Day!
On November 4th the Russian Federation annually celebrates National Unity Day. This public holiday was established in 2005 to commemorate the events of 1612, when Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky led the people's volunteer army to liberate Moscow from occupation by foreign occupation forces. The monument to Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, who later became national heroes, is located in Red Square opposite St. Basil's Cathedral.
The holiday is also the feast day of the Russian Orthodox icon of Our Lady of Kazan, which was the main shrine of the Minin and Pozharsky's volunteer army.

Sri Lanka Navy's Naval and Maritime Academy Delegation (Trincomalee) led by Commodore Kalana Jinadasa, NMA Commandant, accompanied by the Heads of the Academy's Anti-Submarine Warfare, Gunnery and Logistics Programmes, is in Russia this week to inaugurate the series of reciprocal visits of the Sri Lanka Navy Naval and Maritime Academy and the principal Miltary Education & Research Centre of the Russian Navy – the Admiral N. Kuznetsov Naval Academy, stationed in St. Petersburg.
Sri Lanka Inks an Agreement with Russia on the sidelines of INTERPOLITEX-2019 Exhibition in Moscow

Sri Lankan delegation headed by Thusitha Wanigasingha, Additional Secretary, (Law & Order) participated at the INTERPOLITEX-2019 exhibition, which commenced on October 23, 2019, at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow. "INTERPOLITEX" is the largest exhibition in Russia and one of the largest in Europe, dedicated to the means of protecting state and public security.
Additional Secretary (Law & Order) of the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry meets Ambassador Jayatilleka

On October 22-25, 2019 Mr. Thusitha Wanigasingha, Additional Secretary (Law and Order) of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence visited Russia, heading a Sri Lankan delegation at the International Exhibition of Means of State Security Provision "INTERPOLITEX 2019", held in Moscow.
In the course of their visit, the delegates paid a call on Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Moscow, who, in turn, hosted the officials for dinner. During these engagements, the delegates shared their thoughts on the INTERPOLITEX 2019 Exhibition, commending the Russian government on successful organization of an event of such international magnitude, and briefed H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka on the meetings with representatives of Russian authorities.
Ambassador Jayatilleka receives Head of International Department, South Ural State University

The Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the South Ural State University, Ms. Yuliya Valeryevna Shmotina called on Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka 17 October, 2019 at the Embassy. The South Ural State University (SUSU) was founded in 1943, in the midst of the Second World War, when most of the enterprises were transferred to the Eastern part of Russia with the aim of providing scientific and technical assistance to the Soviet Army.
