On February 11, 2019 H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, attended celebration of the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the invitation of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran H.E. Dr. Mehdi Sanaei, Ph.D. in political science, a well-known political author, the founder of Russian Studies Department in the Faculty of World Studies, University of Tehran and a member of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), who previously served as deputy to Foreign Policy Committee in the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission (NSFPC), the Parliament representative in Caspian Sea Affairs and chair of Iran's Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) with Ukraine and Russia.

On February 21, 2019 H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, accompanied by Madame Sanja Jayatilleka, met with Professor Andrei Shutov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, who holds the post of Dean of the Faculty of Political Science of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

15 February 2019 was the final day of Sri Lankan Cultural Week, organized by the Sri Lankan students at the Peoples' Friendship University in Russia (RUDN) with the support and guidance of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow. During the whole event, Sri Lankan products were exhibited, displaying Sri Lanka's scenic beauty, and its cultural values.

On February 20, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka visited the Institute for the US and Canadian Studies of Russian Academy of Science. Founded in 1967 by Academician Georgi Arbatov, the Institute has become one of the leading think tanks providing recommendations for high-level government bodies on domestic, foreign and military policy, as well as on the issues related to restructuring of the Russian national economy.

On 14th February 2019, H.E the Ambassador of Sri Lanka and Madam Sanja Jayatilleka attended a dinner co-hosted by Mr. Dulmith Waruna, First Secretary; Ms. Chathurika Perera, Second Secretary (Commercial) and Ms. Nirosha Herath, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Sri Lanka for the Sri Lankan tea traders who have participated in the PRODEXPO 2019 Exhibition.

Group Captain Channa Dissanayake, Defence Attaché of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow, was invited to the commemoration ceremony of the 30th Anniversary of withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, which ended on February 15, 1989, in keeping with the Geneva Accords, signed by representatives of the USSR, the US, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Republic of Afghanistan.
