
The Embassy of Sri Lanka at a special event organized at the official residence on 2nd December briefed Russian government officials, the friendship association, chambers and longstanding friends of Sri Lanka on the severe impact of the recent natural disaster and to reaffirm the country's commitment to a steady and resilient recovery.
During the event, the Ambassador expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Russian Federation for its timely expressions of solidarity and the humanitarian assistance extended to Sri Lankan communities.
Defence Counsellor, Group Captain Dinesh Kasagala made a presentation of current response efforts and the structured plan underway to restore essential services, rebuild damaged infrastructure, and safeguard vulnerable households.
The Ambassador emphasized that sustained international cooperation remains central to Sri Lanka's long-term recovery, inviting Russia's continued engagement as partners in reconstruction, economic revitalization, and people-to-people exchange.
It was also highlighted that Sri Lanka is working actively to restore normalcy, assuring attendees that the country remains open for bilateral trade, tourism, and investment. Strengthening these channels will help accelerate recovery, safeguard livelihoods, and reinforce the longstanding friendship between both nations.
The event was also used to appreciate the continued cooperation extended by Russia to consolidate bilateral relations.
