Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was founded in 1934 and since then has become one of the largest and long established world known institutions with its unique multidisciplinary academic and research activities focused on educating career diplomats and provision of scientific and political support for Russian foreign policy decision-making and promotion of Russia's interests and role on the world arena.

On February 26, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka met with the Rector's staff of the Russian Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy. Founded in 1934 by Stalin's Foreign Minister Maxim Litvinov, the Academy is the oldest diplomatic educational institution in the world.

On February 21, 2019 H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka paid a call on Senator Alexey Pushkov, a prominent Russian politician with PhD in History, Professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the lead author of the information and analytical program Postscriptum, for which he received a Golden Feather pen Award from the Russian Union of journalists. Senator A. Pushkov was decorated with the Order of Honour for the major contribution to the development of the national television.
